Overview:

The clone trooper was created using cloning technology in order to create a new and powerful army for the Republic. They were considered more superior than the commonly used battle droid that was mainly used at the time. To tell the difference between each trooper and its rank, color coded flashes on each of their body armour was present.

The 12th Attack Battalion used orange color flashes to identify itself and took its orders from Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi. He led these troopers into battle in the Utapau system, taking Pau City and trying to track down General Grievous. The 212th was able to take control with relative ease.
