Is Terminator Salvation Any Good?

Just released is the next installment of the terminator franchise that is Terminator Salvation. After a 6 year break since the last terminator movie, rise of the machines, which was not received quite as well as was hoped and with a lot to live up to after the fantastic Terminator 2: Judgement day. Salvation has gone for a different look and feel to its predecessors and is the first in what could be a new trilogy. Christian Bale, who plays John Conner, said that depending on the success on this movie will determine if he will commit to making the next 2 movies.

The man behind Terminator Salvation is Charlie's Angels director McG who has rebooted the look and feel of the post apocalyptic world that T2 director James Cameron created. The main stars are Batman Returns Christian Bale who plays John Conner and Sam Worthington. Although you might expect Christian Bale to be the main character here, it's Sam Worthington that steals the show and is the central character that this movie is based around.

Is Terminator Salvation any good though?
To be honest, with the huge success of The Terminator and Terminator 2 Judgement Day, it was always going to be a massive task to come anywhere close with this movie. To be fair it's a good effort and much better than Terminator 3, but falls short on James Cameron's masterpieces. The action and pace is all there with plenty of explosions and robots and a big budget, but this movie lacks a certain feel and danger that the first 2 movies produced as well as the script feeling a little thin. This may lead on to better future installments, but opinion is split on this movie ever becoming a classic. Nevertheless it's still good fun and worth a trip out to the cinema for.
