As you may already know Torchwood is a spin off of Doctor Who, but aimed more at the adult market, and although it has only produced a couple of series, it has been a great success in the Sci-fi world, as this mini series will now prove.

Children of Earth kicks off when all the children around the world come to a standstill, faces frozen in one voice saying the words "We are coming", "We are coming". The way this is done will send shivers down your spine, and is indeed cleverly done. What is coming exactly? Well this is where Torchwood comes in, as it’s their job to investigate things of an alien nature. Something is coming to earth. Is it friend or foe? You'll just have to wait and see.

I don’t want to reveal too much about this now. Just sit back and enjoy these 5 episodes because quality like this does not come along too often for us Sci-Fi fans. Look out for it on BBC America every night this week at 9pm.

Now British shows are not known for big budget productions but Torchwood and Doctor Who proves that if you get the story right, then the end result will outshine a big budget, no story show every time.
I'm a big fan of the Doctor Who franchise and have been since I was a child, so when anything new connected to it comes along I am very critical. Torchwood: Children Of Earth did not disappoint and gets the thumbs up in my opinion.

The New Star Trek Movie Is A Must See!

I've just got back from seeing the new Star trek movie remake and I have to say I thought it was fantastic. To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be that good as remakes can often fall short. This movie delivered in every way. The story was great and the casting was spot on, even though Simon Pegg looks nothing like James Doohan, the original Scotty.

Heroes star Zachary Quinto plays a great young Spock and looks just like the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy, who is the only original cast member to star in this movie.

Chris Pine is a relatively unknown actor who plays Jim Kirk. He did a great job of that, as all of William Shatners mannerisms were in place with his acting.

Hulk star Eric Bana plays the brilliant villain Nero. I did feel that we could have done with seeing more of this character, as Bana's performance was fantastic.

J.J. Abrams directed, and although I enjoy Lost, I did not find Cloverfield to be a great movie. With that said he is the sort of director that like to take some risks, and with Star Trek it could have gone very wrong, but instead this old franchise has now been fully rebooted, with more sequels on the way I'm sure.
A great film!
