Just a quick update on what Stargate Universe is generally about. Well, this is the fourth installment in the Stargate franchise. The first being Stargate SG-1 (1997), the second was, Stargate Infinity (2002), and then Stargate Atlantis (2004).

Before, nobody knew what the purpose of the "9th Chevron" was, until now as its purpose becomes revealed for Stargate Universe. A team is sent through and find themselves on an ancient ship called "Destiny". This ship was built by the Ancients millions of years ago.

Its purpose was to plant Stargates around the far reaches of the Galaxies. Dr David Rush and Colonel Everet Young lead this team, but find themselves trapped on this ship as Destiny is set on a pre-programmed series of missions that can't be changed by Dr Rush or his team. The new crew of Destiny now embarks on many new encounters with new civilizations of aliens, as well as make new enemies and discover new technologies to use as they travel blind to the far reaches of the universe.

The cast looks strong with actors like Robert Carlyle and Lou Diamond Phillips aboard. We will just have to wait and see if Stargate Universe is up to the same quality of its predecessors.

I saw the first advert for it tonight and I wonder whether Star Gate Universe (or SGU as it is to be known) will be able to live up to the inevitable pressure from all the fans of the original Stargate series.

I actually enjoyed StarGate Atlantis, but I never thought it would last even as long as it did. I have also spent to many nights getting all involved in a new TV series and then find that after 3 weeks it has been dropped.

Now I dont think for a minute that SGU will be dropped in a matter of weeks , I mean it already has its own wikipedia page, but it does make me just a little bit less willing to commit myself to getting to know and love the characters like I do usually.

Will McGyver be making a guest appearance in SGU at any time I wonder?
